Director of Major Gifts
Regions covered: Pennsylvania and Delaware
Eileen is the Major Gifts Director for Pennsylvania and Delaware. She joined the American Cancer Society in 2011 and most recently held the position of Senior Development Manager, Distinguished Events in the Philadelphia Market. In this role, Eileen was directly responsible for overseeing the Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer program, including the strategic planning, management, and implementation of the BasketBall Gala and Jim Maloney Golf Classic which collectively raise more than $800,000 annually. She developed strong relationships with Philadelphia’s NCAA Division I Men’s basketball coaches, corporate partners, donors and individuals which led to a 200% portfolio increase. She also worked closely with her Distinguished Events team to collaborate on various special events in the Philadelphia area, including the Pennsylvania CEO’s Against Cancer Event, the CVC Tourney Tip-Off Breakfast and Pre-Season Luncheon, the Philadelphia Golf Classic, and the Toll Brothers Gala, raising $1.6 million annually in the market.
Eileen originally studied to be an elementary school teacher and taught 3rd and 6th grade upon graduating from Shippensburg University. Her career path changed when her aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Eileen’s aunt attended an American Cancer Society Look Good Feel Better workshop at her local hospital where she not only received helpful tips to care for her changing skin, but met an incredible group of women, also fighting cancer, who became a support system for her during treatment. Shortly after her aunt’s experience, Eileen saw an open position at the American Cancer Society and decided to apply. During her five years with the organization, she has heard countless stories from survivors and caregivers, similar to her aunt’s, of those who have benefitted from the programs and services the American Cancer Society offers and from the advances in research they’ve helped fund. These stories motivate her to advance the Society’s mission of making a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
In her spare time, Eileen enjoys running, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. She resides in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
