Emily Carey

Vice President, Principal Partnerships and Campaigns

Emily Carey serves as Vice President, Campaign & Principal Partnerships for the American Cancer Society. In this role, she is responsible for leading and implementing the organization’s development strategy related to campaign planning, principal opportunities and partnerships that align with the Society’s mission priorities including research, cancer control, global, and innovation projects.

Emily previously served as senior director, Principal Partnerships at ACS, in which she drove fundraising strategy for the Society’s global program. She joined ACS in late 2015 as senior director of Major Gifts in New York City. Previous to joining ACS, Emily spent four years at the Central Park Conservancy, first as a director of Major Gifts and then as senior director of Capital Campaigns, where she managed strategy and rollout of the Conservancy’s recent $300 million capital campaign. Prior to that, she served as director of Development at the Columbia University Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry. Her early career roles included client management for boutique event planning firms in New York City as well as board administration responsibilities at TIRSA, the non-profit Title Insurance Rate Service Association.

Emily is proud to have previously volunteered at ACS for many years on its New York City Taste of Hope benefit committee. Having lost her father to pancreatic cancer as a teenager, she has long been committed to ACS and its mission. A member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Women in Development, Emily is a graduate of Cornell University (BS) Columbia University (MS) and lives in Manhattan with her husband, Jeffrey Embree.
