Jeanette Janik

Director of Major Gifts

Region covered: Connecticut, New York (except New York City, including Brooklyn, the Bronx, Long Island, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island)

Jeanette has over twenty years of fundraising experience which will serve her well as she utilizes her skills and knowledge in her position as a Director of Major Gifts. Her most recent position prior to joining the Society was with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation as a Major Gifts Officer from 2007 until her recent relocation to Connecticut. Her duties at the Ford Foundation included providing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for 150+ donors and organizing regional prospect development events.

From 2002 until 2007, Jeanette served in two capacities at California State University San Bernardino—Director of Development, Palm Desert Campus (2005–2007) and Director of Development, College of Arts and Letters (2002–2005). She was instrumental in directing an advisory board through a strategic planning process and providing guidance to a volunteer philanthropic committee.

Jeanette also served as Assistant Vice President of University Advancement at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California and as Director of Development with the Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Although Jeanette has spent her most recent time working on the West Coast, she worked for several years in New England and considers it “home.”

Jeanette is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire where she earned a BA and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to UNH Graduate School and Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services. Jeanette is based in the New England Division’s Rocky Hill, Connecticut office.
