John Brannelly

Director of Major Gifts

Regions covered: Connecticut and Westchester County, New York.

As Director of Major Gifts, John Brannelly supports our current Laureate Society Members while inviting new Major Gift investors and foundations to support the many programs of the American Cancer Society.  He enjoys working with donors to fund new cancer research projects at institutions Yale University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and cancer prevention programs for our most-at-risk neighbors in cities like Hartford and White Plains. 

John began his career as Regional Director of Corporate Relations in San Diego where he worked with Fortune 1000 companies and oversaw Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Daffodil Days, and the San Diego Invitational. Later he was the Corporate Relations Market Director and worked with companies like the San Diego Chargers on the NFL’s A Crucial Catch, San Diego Padres and San Diego Union-Tribune

Upon relocating back to Fairfield, CT to help care for his in-laws, both cancer survivors, John worked as the Senior Market Manager, Community Engagement for Fairfield County. In this role, he assisted in cancer prevention programs and events including The Great American Smokeout, Cancer Moonshot, and the inaugural Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Seaside Park. Recently he earned a Silver Award from the Society.

John stays active with his professional associations, AFP and PRSA and his alma maters Fairfield Prep and St. Bonaventure University. In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his seven siblings, running and civic involvement like volunteering as Board Vice President of the City Lights Gallery.
