Krista Heide

Director of Philanthropy

Region covered: Texas (Houston)

As a child, Krista was raised on the fundamental credos of service above self and service to a mission greater than oneself. These credos have driven Krista both personally and professionally and are what has drawn her to the mission of the American Cancer Society. Like so many at the American Cancer Society, the work is personal. Krista has been impacted by the resilience and hope brought on by cancer research and community programming and looks forward to the day when the fight is won.

Krista brings 19 years of major gift fundraising and brand management experience to the American Cancer Society, including 10 years with the United Way of Greater Houston. She has raised more than $30 million in gifts for nonprofits and higher education throughout Texas. She is highly adept at forging authentic, lucrative relationships with key stakeholders and partners, and has a proven ability to develop strategic initiatives and capture emerging business opportunities. Prior to her nonprofit career, Krista spent nine years as an award-winning advertising and public relations professional.

Krista has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals since 2011 and holds a BA in Communications and Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. When not at work, Krista loves travel, independent films and documentaries, music, exploring new places with friends, and dabbling in interior design.
