Melissa Northrop

Senior Director of Principal Partnerships

Melissa brings more than 12 years of experience in philanthropy. Before being promoted into Principal Partnerships, she served as Director of Major Gifts at the American Cancer Society where she was responsible in building relationships and working with community leaders, philanthropists, and foundations capable of five, six, and seven figure gifts throughout Georgia and South Carolina. Previous to her work at ACS, she served as Director of Development at Georgia State University where she worked with various constituencies to build resources for the students, faculty, and programs for Georgia State. While there, Melissa was part of a team that raised a record $32 million in 2014.

Melissa's development career began at the University of Georgia where she worked to build relationships between Alumni and the University. She also served as a consultant to a non-profit in the Atlanta area that raises research dollars for an early detection test for ovarian cancer and spreads awareness. Melissa has a particular passion for innovation and a drive to make a difference in the lives of those around her every day.  

Melissa received her bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in Journalism. She is based in Atlanta where she lives with her husband and two young children.
