“Sue” Durgy worked for eleven years in healthcare fundraising at two Critical Access Hospitals. As Director of Development, she was responsible for all aspects of raising financial resources to meet the needs of the community hospitals. She directed successful capital campaigns, ran several prosperous special events, conducted annual appeals, and major gift planning and solicitations. At one of the hospitals, Sue was the first director of development and started the philanthropy program from its initiation. She felt great satisfaction in building a program from its inception.
Prior to that, she worked for seven years as the director of two social service programs, the Senior Companion Program and the Senior Community Service Employment Program. Responsible for overseeing program operations, Sue supervised a staff of seven, was responsible for grant writing and fund raising to sustain the programs serving over eight hundred low-income seniors annually throughout the State pf New Hampshire. Before moving to New Hampshire, Sue was the Director of an HIV/AIDS program for the City of Danbury, Connecticut. With a staff of eight, the program offered community prevention education, including street outreach, counseling and testing. Sue is most proud of her leading the initiation of a needle exchange program in the City.
Sue earned her MBA in Business Leadership from Franklin Pierce College and her BA from the University of Connecticut. She has held her CFRE certification since 2009.
Sue moved to New Hampshire with her husband twenty years ago, before which they lived in Connecticut and New Jersey. In addition to her love of rescued animals, Sue enjoys traveling, hiking and reading.
