Dana Hamilton

Senior Director of Major Gifts

Dana Hamilton has been with the American Cancer Society for over 13 years. She had various roles during that time which include; Senior Community Income Manager, Senior Distinguished Events Manager and Area Manager in Charlotte, NC.  During her time as Area Manager in the Charlotte office she was responsible for securing over 3.6 million dollars yearly through effective major gift solicitations, sponsorship opportunities and donor cultivation events, which included: galas, golf tournaments, multiple social events and Coaches vs. Cancer. 

Dana returned to her hometown where she accepted a position at her alma mater as a Major Gift Officer to help complete a $65 million comprehensive campaign resulting in a $1.5 million overage.  After the campaign, she took on the role as Director of Alumni Engagement where she worked with various board members to create a stewardship plan to increase alumni giving and
participation. 

Her passion for working with the American Cancer Society comes from helping individuals in need who have cancer, due to her being a cancer survivor herself.  During her battle with cancer, she utilized various programs offered by the American Cancer Society and is now committed to paying it forward.  Her family is from Colorado, Arizona, and California so she is excited to be moving closer to home. 

Dana is married to her husband John and has one son, Austin. When not working, Dana enjoys hiking, practicing meditation, and spending time with family and friends.
