Tim Torgerson

Senior Director of Principal Partnerships

Tim has over 30 years of fundraising and non-profit management experience including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and capital development. In 2000, Tim joined the American Cancer Society to serve as Director of Capital Development for the Midwest Division. Tim has extensive experience closing large contributions, including in 2003 when he and the Midwest Division team closed a $7.5 million gift for Hope Lodge, which at that time was the largest current gift to the American Cancer Society in its history.

In 2007, Tim joined the American Cancer Society National Home Office to serve as the Director of Institutional Funding where he coordinated national relationships with large private and corporate foundations.

In 2009, Tim expanded his work to include the redevelopment of the national major gift team and the development of the national principal gifts team.

Today, Tim leads the capital development of the new Hope Lodge facilities where we currently over $100 million in campaign goals.

Since joining the American Cancer Society in 2001, Tim has raised or been part of teams that have generated over $75 million for Hope Lodge and other ACS programs. He has closed 8 seven-figure (including two $10 million matching grants that each generated another $10 million!) and more than 30 six-figure gifts in his tenure.

Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Tim served in development and senior management positions with the YMCA, The Salvation Army, St. Andrew's Church, and Opportunity Partners.

Tim is married to Carol and they are parents of two adult children, two really cool grandsons and a granddaughter on the way!
