How Kohl's is Helping Us Save Lives

The American Cancer Society and Kohl’s have partnered to bring you Kohl’s Healthy Families, a program supporting families through prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.   Since 2010, Kohl’s has committed over $10 million in grant funding to the American Cancer Society to help fight cancer in southeast Wisconsin.

The Kohl's Healthy Families program highlights include:

  • Educational materials about the prevention and early detection of cancer, such as the Healthy Families Guidebook that provides tools to help families learn how to take action and reduce their risk of cancer.  It focuses on healthy lifestyle choices regarding nutrition, physical activity, and provides guidance around cancer screening.  Information is presented in an easy to understand format that includes grocery lists, recipes, exercise ideas and stress management tips for the entire family.
  • School health initiatives that help parents and school leaders create policies and implement a curriculum focused on healthy eating and physical activity.  The School Resources Tool Kit is a resource to help with these efforts.
  • Educational materials for patients and their loved ones to cope with a cancer diagnosis:

    • The Guide for Patients with a Recent Cancer Diagnosis booklet helps patients and their families answer common questions about cancer and offers suggestions when talking with their healthcare team.
    • The Because Someone I Love Has Cancer activity book can help children recognize their feelings and develop coping skills when a loved one has cancer.
  • Kohl's has a long-standing commitment to the fight against breast cancer and provides support through several resources:

    • The Healthy Choices for Breast Cancer Prevention & Screening booklet provides information on breast health, including screening guidelines and lifestyle tips to reduce breast cancer risk.
    • The Healthy Choices for Breast Cancer  Patients & Survivors toolkit outlines steps patients and survivors can take to eat healthy and stay active. To encourage physical activity, each booklet comes with a pink pedometer.
    • The Breast Cancer Personal Healthy  Manager kit provides patients with a file to keep track of notes, questions, medication, appointments, and insurance statements.  It also provides information about breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • The Kohl’s Healthy Families website is an online resource with information on reducing your risk of cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, eating healthy foods, and being physically active. Visit to learn more and order free materials.
  • Kohl’s also sponsors several American Cancer Society community events:
    • Presenting sponsor – Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Milwaukee (since 2010)
    • Exclusive sponsor – Community Health Worker Conference (since 2010)
    • Sponsor – several Relay For Life and Relay Recess events in southeast Wisconsin (since 2015)

Through the Kohl's Volunteer Program, Kohl’s associates help make a difference in their communities by volunteering their time for eligible nonprofit organizations.  Since 2010, Kohl’s has donated over $2 million to the American Cancer Society through their nationwide Kohl’s Volunteer Program.
