Learn about key statistics for neuroblastoma, including how common it is, who is most affected, and the outlook for those with a diagnosis.
Neuroblastoma is the most common cancer in infants who are less than 1 year old. There are about 600 to 800 new cases of neuroblastoma each year in the United States.
The average age of children when they are diagnosed is about 1 to 2 years. Rarely, neuroblastoma can be detected before birth by ultrasound. Most neuroblastomas are diagnosed by age 5. It is rare in people over the age of 10 years.
Statistics related to survival are discussed in Neuroblastoma Survival Rates and Risk Groups.
