Nancy Yaw

Executive Vice President and Operating Officer, Lakeshore Division

Nancy is the executive vice president and operating officer of the American Cancer Society's Lakeshore Division, which serves communities in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan.

As executive vice president and operating officer, Nancy is the Lakeshore Division's senior-most staff executive, driving development and implementation of the Society's mission and income strategies across three states, and engaging corporate executives, high-level donors, and leadership volunteers in furthering the fight against cancer. Under her leadership, the Division serves cancer patients and caregivers; engages thousands of volunteers to support community-based programs; inspires and equips hundreds of companies to provide healthy workplaces; and raises $59 million annually to help more people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back against cancer.

In Nancy's nearly three decades of experience she has brought passion and integrity to the various positions she has held. As a leader among Society executives, Nancy has served in a variety of instrumental roles including co-lead for the Society's Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS-3). Through Nancy's direction and her confidence in leveraging the power of the Society's community-based presence, the Society exceeded its nationwide goal of enrolling 300,000 participants.

With Nancy's leadership the Lakeshore Division has consistently recruited the most American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkSM (ACS CAN) members in the nation and was first to add ACS CAN metrics to staff performance goals. She currently serves on the Advocacy Integration Fundraising Workgroup tasked with developing a fundraising model for ACS CAN.
Nancy is a member of both the Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Walther Cancer Foundation, Inc., Board of Directors. She is a graduate of Michigan State University and resides in Ada, Michigan, with her husband, Don and daughter, Madeline. Nancy enjoys time with her family, horseback riding, reading, and cooking, and she is an avid pin collector.
