Staying With Us

Eligibility Requirements

Hope Lodge is designed for adult guests/patients who are independent (able to care for themselves) and mobile with minimal assistance. Each cancer patient must be 18 years or older and accompanied by an adult caregiver who can assist in their care (such as meal preparation, laundry, and maintaining room cleanliness) should it be necessary. Guests must be forty miles or more away from and traveling to the greater Cincinnati area related to an active cancer diagnosis and be pursuing or participating in treatment. All residents must be free of communicable diseases (chicken pox, shingles, measles, mumps, colds, flu, etc.) or determined not infectious by a physician.

Caregivers must be eighteen (18) years or older, free of communicable diseases, be able to live independently in a community setting, have a health status that meets the needs of the patient they will be caring for, physically and mentally. Caregivers are expected to be able to care for and support the patient during treatment, arrange transportation as needed, communicate with medical professionals and Hope Lodge staff, and assist patient with any mobility needs.

Patients younger than 18 years old may be interested in the American Cancer Society Hotel Partners program.

Admission Process

All reservations are on a 'first come first serve basis'.

Patients are usually referred to Hope Lodge by the treating physicians or their staff. Often a patient is referred by a hospital social worker or chaplain. A patient or their caregiver can directly call the Hope Lodge director to reserve accommodations. Once the referral information and the medical professional's signature are received, the patient's name is placed on our arrival/waiting list.

Upon your arrival, there is a check-in procedure that is a bit more detailed than what you might be used to in a hotel. Our staff will spend a few minutes orienting you to the building and reviewing our policies and guidelines. There is a minimal amount of paperwork to be completed. Please plan for about 15-20 minutes before you will be able to settle into your room.

From the moment you walk in the door, our goal is to make you feel welcomed and comfortable in an environment that is warm, peaceful, and relaxing.
