Problems Affecting the Nervous System

Cancer and cancer treatment can cause problems that affect the nervous system, such as peripheral neuropathy or seizures. Learn what to look for and how to manage these side effects.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Some  chemotherapy drugs and other treatments for cancer can cause peripheral neuropathy, a set of symptoms caused by damage to nerves that control the sensations and movements of our arms, legs, hands, and feet.

Seizures

A seizure is the uncontrolled movement of muscles. It can happen when nerve cells in the brain become irritated, overexcited, or something puts pressure on them so they don’t work properly. Seizures usually last a few minutes or less, but they can be followed by sleepiness and confusion that can last for several hours or days.
