Ka Kit “Antonio” Liu

Associate Scientist, Geospatial Research

At ACS since 2016

As an Associate Scientist in geospatial research, Antonio Liu, BS, studies principles of geographic information systems (GIS), cartography, remote sensing, database management, and spatial analysis.  With the American Cancer Society (ACS) geospatial science team, he’s involved in all stages of projects, from design to data gathering and pre-processing, geocoding, geospatial analysis, and reporting results.

Liu specifically helps prepare and analyze geospatial data for decision-support tools that help drive the ACS mission toward a world without cancer.

Research focus and accomplishments

Liu recently contributed to the development of the interactive National Lung Cancer Roundtable Atlas. The interactive atlas provides PH professionals, state round tables and experts inside and outside the ACS data and analytics tools for decision making in their states and communities. Users can also evaluate accessibility to lung cancer screening across the United States.

Liu is well-versed in multiple programming languages and is using those skills to enhance and extend applications such as the recently published COVID-19 ACS Dashboard and the GA Lung Cancer Roundtable Story Map.
